How to Play the 15 Puzzle

Tap or click a tile next to the empty space to slide it. Only tiles directly above, below, left, or right of the space can move. With a keyboard, focus a tile and press Enter or Space.

Arrange the numbers from 1 to 15, left to right and top to bottom, with the empty space in the bottom-right corner. The stage display shows progress through the rows and remaining sections of the board.

Hints, Undo and Reset

Guide me highlights the next tile on a known route to the completed board. If you move away from that route, the guide first retraces those moves. Hints do not necessarily follow the displayed stage order or give the shortest solution.

Undo takes back your last move. Reset restores the current starting board and clears the move counter and timer. New Puzzle gives you another solvable board.
